Presentation of the FireBike to Suffolk Fire & Rescue at the Suffolk Show
Representatives from the Copdock Classic Motorcycle Club were proud to be at the Suffolk Show on Wednesday 28th May 2014 to unveil & present the "Firebike" to the Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service.
The following is from the SFRS website:
The "Firebike" motorcycle has been paid for by the renowned and respected Copdock Classic Motorcycle Club, an organisation that is passionate about motorcycles and anything motorcycle related who have nominated Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service as their chosen charity of the year. They see the good in the desire to cut down on the disproportionate number of motorcyclist fatalities on Suffolk's roads, which have been amongst the worst in the country.
There are 3 nominated riders for the Firebike who are all serving firefighters and have been trained by Suffolk Police to Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists level, and are all volunteers. Hopefully this number will be increased in the future so that we will be able to accommodate the growing number of requests that we have received so far.
SFRS have worked in partnership with Police colleagues to reach a nationally approved standard at nil cost and volunteers riding and attending motorcycle events in their own time, to promote safer riding and better personal protective equipment to help prevent people being killed or seriously injured on Suffolk's roads.
